Dunne, Finley Peter
(10 jul. 1867, Chicago, Ill., EE.UU.–24 abr. 1936, Nueva York, N.Y.).

Periodista y humorista estadounidense. Hijo de inmigrantes irlandeses, Dunne inició su carrera escribiendo piezas breves en dialecto irlandés para periódicos de Chicago en 1892. En ellas creó al personaje Martin Dooley, quien comentaba las noticias con marcado acento irlandés. El señor Dooley pronto se convirtió en un defensor del pensamiento claro y de la tolerancia en los asuntos públicos. Dunne escribió más de 700 ensayos en dialecto, algunos de los cuales fueron recogidos posteriormente en ocho volúmenes, entre los cuales se cuentan Mr. Dooley in Peace and War [El señor Dooley en la paz y en la guerra] y Mr. Dooley's Philosophy [La filosofía del señor Dooley], entre 1898 y 1919.
